Terra Nova Field Development
The Terra Nova field, situated on the Grand Banks, off Newfoundland, was developed using 4 subsea Drilling Centers producing via flexible flowlines to a FPSO unit. A number of flowlines and umbilicals were installed from the FPSO location towards the wells positioned in the ‘Glory Holes’.
The flowlines were trenched below seabed level where possible, and where trenching requirements could not be fulfilled, rock -dumping was used. D.P. Fall Pipe Vessel “Seahorse”, with a loading capacity of approx. 19,000 tons, executed various rock- dumping activities along the flowlines, including stabilization works using the stitching method, thermal insulation rockdump and rectification works. For completion of the works, a total tonnage of approx. 140,000 tons was used.
