Greenstream Project - Sicily Landfall

The Greenstream Project concerned the building of a new Gas Transportation System (LGTS) to transport the dry and sweet natural gas from Mellitah Gas Treatment Plant’s Launching Terminal (Libya) to Sicily Receiving Terminal (Italy) through a 32” offshore pipeline system across the Mediterranean sea.

The offshore section of the pipeline will be 516 km long and will be laid in a maximum waterdepth of 1,120 m. The shore approach section at Sicily side (Gela) consists of approx. 780 m. long section.

Tideway’s scope of work in JV, included onshore preparation works and offshore trenching and backfilling works in relation to the landfall construction works at Sicily.

Part of the works to be executed for the Sicily Landfall are:

Construction of cofferdam
Trench excavation works
Backfilling works, including gravel dumping
Pipe pulling operations
Site reinstatement
