Project Description
Reliance Industries Ltd. is developing the offshore gas field known as Block KGDWN-98/3 in the Krishna Godavari Basin, Bay of Bengal off the East Coast of India. The gas field covers an area of approximately 7,500 km2 and is located between approximately 40 km and 60 km south east of Kakinada. The gas field lies in water depths ranging between 400 meters in the Northwest and over 2,700 meters in the Southeast.
Scope of Work
The contract for civil works has been awarded to Tideway bv.
The scope covered by this contract is concerned with river estuary activities from Landfall Point to the 50 m water depth contour line, including:
a)Dredging of a trench, between Landfall Point and KP 20.700 for the installation of:
- 3 x 24” pipelines, with 3 x 6” pipelines piggy-back
- 2 power umbilicals
- 1 x 12” effluent pipeline with diffuser.
b)Backfilling of the pipeline trench, between Landfall Point and KP 20.700.
c)Landfall point activities, including:
- installation of the cofferdam
- excavation of trench between sheet piled cofferdam
- installation of the winch anchorage
- installation of the winch for pulling cable pipes onshore
- installation of conduits pipes (umbilical casings)
- removal of temporary structures after installations
- site restoration
Execution of the Works
Mid August 2007 – December 2008
Equipment
The works are carried out with the following equipment:
- Pallieter equipped with extra long suction pipe to reach down to a water depth of 50 m.
- Vlaanderen XX
- Atlantis
Quantities
Quantity of rock: 1,000,000 ton
Quantity of dredging: 11,000,000 m3
