Amarada Hess South Arne Offshore Ballasting
The South Arne Field is located in Block 5604/29 in the Danish Sector of the Central North Sea some 220 km off the Danish coast. Part of the further development of the field was the construction of a concrete gravity base structure (GBS), with a capacity of 550,000 bbls., in which recovered oil form 5 new wells was stored. This structure also supports the topside.
Tideway’s scope of work for this project, was the offshore ballasting of the concrete gravity based structure (GBS) by our D.P. Fall Pipe Vessel “Rollingstone”.
The ballasting consists of filling up with ore the 10 ballast cells on the NE side and the 10 ballast cells on the SW side of the GBS. A 0.5m top layer of 50-300mm rock is placed on top of the ore to protect the ore against action from waves and currents.
