Offshore dredging
Tideway's main dredging tasks lie in preparing the seabed before cables, pipelines or any other sub-sea structures are installed. Typically, this involves pre-sweeping of sand dunes with our D.P. Hopper Dredgers. Besides allowing us to reach depths up to 110 metres, these vessels give us excellent capacity ranges from 6,000 m3 to 24,000 m3. With the same vessels, we are also ideally equipped to handle offshore ballasting of gravity base structures and loading buoys.
In addition to this, Tideway operates dredging vessels in various sizes for shore approaches, backfilling and trench dredging works in any kind of seabed.
A wide range of cutter suction dredgers, grab dredgers, backhoe dredgers, bucket dredgers and drilling and blasting platforms is available.
Our dredging techniques include post-trenching, such as the unique flow-dredging system. With this method, we compleT +avoid the time-consuming task of manoeuvring our dredger to the correct position to remove sand waves. Instead, we use our newly devised seabed survey system and a rotational, multipurpose jetflow head to smooth out the sand waves with a single pass (regardless of the direction of the wind, current or waves).
As an alternative for smaller offshore dredging works, a large heavy clamshell grab, equipped with a ROV, was developed. Dredging depths upto 1,000 metres can be achieved using this system. The system was used successfully for the construction of glory holes for the Husky / White Rose Development, offshore Canada, during 2003.
With the back-up of our versatile fleet, operations of any size can be performed continuously.
